The Do-Lab approach is built on two inseparable pillars: a structured hands-on teaching method and a deeply woven growth mindset. Together, they transform how children learn — and how they see themselves as learners.
In our performance-oriented society, students — especially those for whom learning does not come naturally — often feel immense pressure. They develop a fixed mindset, believing that learning "is not for them."
The result? They avoid challenges out of fear of failure. They give up easily when things get hard. They develop a negative self-image that follows them into adulthood.
Do-Lab changes this. Not by telling children to "believe in themselves", but by giving them real experiences where they see — with their own hands — that they can.
Mindset without method is inspiration without direction. Method without mindset is activity without growth. Do-Lab brings them together in every single lesson.
Learning is not primarily about assignments or knowledge — that only follows once a child believes growth is possible. It is about the guts to make mistakes, the bravery to start over, and the confidence to keep going.
Mindset without method is inspiration without direction. Do-Lab turns the growth mindset into real practice: children build something with their hands, hit the Learning Pit, use their learning skills to climb out, and discover that effort actually works.
Young students can't yet read Carol Dweck — but they can recognise two characters. Growy and Fixy give children a shared language for the voices inside their own heads, so they can spot fixed thinking and choose growth instead.
Growth Mindset
Growy shows children what it looks like to lean into a challenge, to treat mistakes as information, and to keep going when things get hard. Growy is the voice every child can learn to use.
Fixed Mindset
Fixy is the voice that says "I'm just not good at this." Every student knows Fixy. Do-Lab gives them the tools to recognise Fixy — and choose Growy instead.
Every student hits the moment where they want to give up. We call that the pit — and it's exactly where real learning starts. Do-Lab teaches children to recognise the pit, sit with it, and climb out. Because the pit isn't a problem. The pit is where growth lives.
"This is too hard. I quit."

"Wait — I can try something else."
Growth mindset is not a slogan — it's a set of concrete behaviours students can practise. Every Do-Lab lesson builds on these eight learning skills, giving children shared language and teachers something real to recognise and reinforce.
Every Do-Lab Unit ends with a personal conversation between teacher and student. Every child leaves with one concrete growth goal — in their own words — and every teacher leaves with a clearer picture of the child behind the work.
This is where reflection becomes intention and where growth gets personal. The IDP conversation framework — the questions, the structure, the follow-up — is built into our curriculum and taught in our teacher training.
These are the five shifts teachers consistently see in their students after working with the Do-Lab method.
Failing is part of learning, not the end of it.
Challenges become opportunities, not obstacles.
The journey matters as much as the result.
Students become the drivers of their own growth.
Talent is built, not born — and every child can improve.
The feedback you give, how you respond to mistakes, the language you use when learning gets hard — all of this shapes your students' mindset. Do-Lab gives you the techniques, the vocabulary, and the structure to grow with your students, not just teach them.
